The senior project in itself is geared toward civic engagement because it's encouraging students inherently to see themselves as agents of change. In the imagining of the theory of change they will imagine themselves as part of the solution to a real-life problem: domestic violence, abortion access, obesity, bullying, legalization of marijuana, animal abuse, educational inequality.
Their infographic will be a smaller piece of the overall presentation in which they talk about their senior capstone work and their plans for post-graduation. This assignment will help students move toward a more tangible representation of the theory of change. With something like an infographic, my hope is, that it will bring in digital skills as well as be a visual representation that requires them to take something that is really complex and represent it with less text and in a visual way. It's something that a person could look at quickly and say, "Oh, I understand what they're trying to do here." |
